Silver (XAG/USD) trades near $65 per ounce in mid-August 2026 after a sharp 2025 rally exceeding 130%, with analyst consensus pointing to a 2026 average around $78–$81/oz driven by persistent structural deficits and inelastic industrial demand. Over 50–60% of silver consumption stems from solar photovoltaics, EVs, electronics, and data centers, outpacing byproduct-constrained mine supply and projecting a record 2026 deficit. Monetary factors including Fed policy signals, Treasury yields, and inflation trajectories influence safe-haven flows alongside gold, while higher prices prompt some thrifting that adds volatility. Key near-term catalysts include upcoming economic releases and any shifts in global growth or green-energy investment that could test resistance above current levels or support consolidation in the mid-$60s.
