Recent National Hurricane Center outlooks highlight a disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms in the western Eastern Pacific, west-southwest of Baja California, where favorable environmental conditions support gradual organization into a tropical depression. This system carries a 30% formation chance within 48 hours and 60% over seven days as of August 9, positioning it as the primary near-term catalyst for development before the August 14 deadline. The basin remains in its climatological peak period following the recent passage of Hurricane Genevieve, with above-normal seasonal outlooks reinforcing trader expectations. Model consensus and steering patterns favor westward to northwestward motion, though disorganized structure and any rapid environmental shifts introduce realistic uncertainty that could delay genesis beyond the window.
