Current National Weather Service and model consensus point to an overnight low in the mid- to upper 50s for San Francisco on September 6, driven by persistent onshore westerly flow and a moderating marine layer that limits radiative cooling under partly cloudy skies. This aligns with the September climatological average low of 56.1°F at downtown stations and recent observed minima near 57–60°F, while the historical record low of 50°F remains unlikely absent a stronger offshore shift. Traders appear to weigh the narrow 56–59°F range most heavily, reflecting typical late-summer coastal moderation rather than anomalous warming or cooling. Final resolution will hinge on the official minimum from primary observing sites before sunrise on the 6th.
