Current National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance point to overnight lows in the mid-to-upper 50s Fahrenheit for San Francisco on September 5, driven by persistent onshore marine flow and moderate west winds that limit radiational cooling. Clear to partly cloudy skies allow some surface heat loss after sunset, while dew points near 55–57°F and typical September climatology (average low 56.1°F) anchor the range. Differentiation between the closely matched 56–57°F and 58–59°F bins hinges on small forecast adjustments in wind speed or marine-layer depth, with any increase in clouds or breeze raising the minimum by 1–2°F. No significant synoptic shifts are expected before resolution.
