Wisconsin's 3rd congressional district remains one of the most competitive House races heading into the November 2026 general election, with Democratic nominee Rebecca Cooke holding an edge over incumbent Republican Derrick Van Orden in recent polling and trader pricing. Cooke secured the Democratic nomination in the August 11 primary, setting up a rematch after Van Orden's narrow 2024 victory in the R+3 district. A June poll showed Cooke ahead 50-46 percent, and forecasters including the Cook Political Report have shifted the race to Tossup status. Midterm dynamics, where the party out of the White House often gains ground, combined with the seat's battleground history and modest Democratic polling advantage, underpin the current 70.5 percent implied probability for a Democratic win versus 26 percent for Republicans. Upcoming campaign events and further polling releases through fall could shift positioning.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
