The Croatian advanced by rallying past Denis Shapovalov in three sets, while Borges dispatched Terence Atmane in straight sets and carries momentum from a solid clay-court campaign earlier in 2026. Their head-to-head favors Borges after a straight-sets win on hard courts in January, yet the faster grass should accentuate Cilic’s aggressive shot-making and reduce baseline rallies. Weather delays have already interrupted play, and any further interruptions or fatigue from Cilic’s 37-year-old frame could shift outcomes in a match expected to hinge on serve hold percentages and return depth.
