**A security agreement between the United States, Denmark, and Greenland was announced on September 18, 2026, granting the U.S. expanded permanent basing, access, and overflight rights while barring non-NATO countries from establishing bases or making sensitive investments.** President Trump described it as an “infinite life” pact providing “permanent control over security and all other needs,” with no cost to the U.S. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen confirmed the accord but stressed it recognizes Danish sovereignty and Greenland’s right to self-determination, without any territorial transfer. No full text has been released. The parties plan to sign the deal the following week at the UN General Assembly in New York, after which parliamentary processes in Denmark and Greenland would still be required. This timeline and the emphasis on forthcoming details shape trader focus on the timing and source of any official text release.
