This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Cape Town International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 4 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=fact If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Trader consensus in the "Highest temperature in Cape Town on September 4" market centers on 19–21°C (combined ~93% implied probability), with 20°C the clear favorite at 46.5%.** This reflects short-range model guidance showing post-frontal clearing after a cool, rainy Thursday (Sept 3) influenced by a cut-off low and strong southeasterly winds. Key drivers include rapid clearing under building high pressure, dry subsiding air, and persistent SE flow that limits daytime warming while suppressing cloud cover. Official and ensemble forecasts from sources such as WeatherBug, Yr.no, and regional models converge on a Friday high near 19–20°C (roughly 66–68°F), consistent with early-spring climatology for Cape Town after a frontal passage. Winds of 20–35 km/h from the southeast enhance mixing and keep the boundary layer relatively cool despite abundant sunshine. Recent developments reinforcing this range include Thursday’s observed cooler, wet conditions (highs ~16°C with rain and gusts to 70+ km/h), which set up drier, clearer air for the following day. Model spread remains modest at this lead time, with limited upside potential above 21°C or downside below 18°C given the established high-pressure regime. Updated runs from global ensembles and local meteorological services will provide the next key signals ahead of resolution.
