Recent heavy rainfall and persistent cloud cover from a passing weather system have suppressed daytime heating in Tokyo, driving market-implied odds toward a September 17 high near 24°C (33.5%) over 23°C or 25°C. Official forecasts from the Japan Meteorological Agency and ensemble models show a mostly cloudy day with northeast winds, highs of 24–25°C, and only modest afternoon clearing—well below the late-summer climatological average of 27–28°C. Light rain tapering overnight and stable high pressure limit further warming or cooling surprises, keeping the distribution tight. Updated model runs and the next JMA briefing remain the key near-term catalysts for any shift in trader positioning.
