Trader consensus favors sub-85% voter turnout at 48.5% for Malta's May 30 general election, driven by 2022's record-low 85.6% amid Labour Party dominance and a perceived non-competitive race, with recent Sagalytics polls through early May showing Labour leading Nationalists 53-43%. The snap election called by Prime Minister Robert Abela on April 27 shortened the campaign to five weeks, potentially curbing mobilization, while demographic shifts toward younger voters and diaspora flight logistics add downward pressure. The 85-90% band at 32% reflects historical norms, but single-party rule since 2013 has trended turnout lower; intensive rallies by both major parties in early May could yet boost participation before polls close.
