Romania's ongoing government formation crisis following the May 2026 no-confidence vote that ousted Ilie Bolojan has left the country under caretaker leadership, with repeated failed parliamentary votes on presidential nominees deepening the deadlock. Traders assign Alexandru Nazare the strongest position at 47.5% due to his senior ministerial role and perceived viability as a compromise within pro-European coalitions involving PSD and PNL, while Sorin Grindeanu trails at 22.9% amid PSD's influence but coalition frictions. Other names remain low-probability given negotiation hurdles and the requirement for a stable majority. Recent stalled talks and president Nicușor Dan's nomination attempts underscore the uncertainty, with resolution dependent on cross-party agreement before any snap election trigger.

Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
