Aleksandar Vučić leads the market at 52% following his June 2026 announcement that he would resign the presidency and seek the prime minister post on the Serbian Progressive Party’s “United Serbia” list in the October 25 snap parliamentary election. Persistent student-led protests over corruption, triggered by the 2024 Novi Sad railway collapse, prompted the early vote and created space for opposition challengers, including the Student List. Vučić’s formal nomination by SNS and the party’s parliamentary majority provide the clearest path to the office, yet the contest remains closely balanced because the election outcome, potential coalition negotiations, and any late shifts in turnout or alliances could still alter the result before a new government is formed and sworn in.
