Incumbent Republican Andy Harris secured his party's nomination in the June 2026 primary and faces Democrat Dan Schwartz in the November general election for Maryland's 1st congressional district. The seat's established Republican lean, reflected in its Cook Partisan Voting Index rating and Harris's consistent past performance including a 2024 victory, underpins the strong trader consensus favoring the Republican nominee. An earlier Democratic-led redistricting effort that would have altered the district's boundaries failed to advance through the state Senate. With no major shifts in candidate positioning or external events reported since the primaries, the race remains non-competitive by historical standards for this district.
