The closely contested Democratic primary for Minnesota's open U.S. Senate seat features Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, the DFL-endorsed progressive, against Rep. Angie Craig and several lesser-known candidates ahead of the August 11 vote. In Hennepin County, trader odds remain tight because the urban Minneapolis electorate favors progressive positions on corporate influence and party direction, yet Craig's moderate emphasis on electability and fundraising could draw suburban support within the county. Recent head-to-head debates have sharpened contrasts on issues like healthcare and endorsements, with Flanagan's convention victory providing momentum but not guaranteeing county-level separation. Low visibility for other candidates and uncertain turnout patterns among key voting blocs sustain the even probabilities, while final weekend campaigning or strong local turnout signals could shift the implied consensus.
