Romania's fractured parliament and the May 5 no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan have left no single party or bloc with an assured majority, prompting President Nicușor Dan to begin formal party consultations ahead of a potential nomination as early as next week. Traders reflect this uncertainty by spreading probabilities across multiple candidates, with Delia Velculescu holding the lead on technocratic credentials and Șerban Matei positioned closely behind amid ongoing coalition negotiations involving PSD, PNL, and smaller groups. Recent PSD-AUR alignment against fiscal measures and reluctance from centrist parties to revive prior arrangements underscore the need for cross-bloc agreement to secure investiture before the June 30 resolution window. Any breakthrough in talks or a clear presidential signal could quickly consolidate support among the leading names.

To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
