Incumbent Democrat Pat Ryan holds a commanding position in New York's 18th congressional district, a mid-Hudson Valley seat covering Orange County and parts of Dutchess and Ulster counties, where he secured 57% in the 2024 general election. Trader consensus at 91% for the Democratic nominee aligns with his unopposed Democratic primary, strong labor endorsements, fundraising edge, and the district's consistent Democratic lean in recent cycles. Republican nominee Jacqueline Auringer advanced without primary opposition but trails significantly. Factors that could narrow the gap include a broader national Republican surge in the 2026 midterms, Ryan facing unforeseen personal or ethical issues, or Auringer achieving outsized gains in turnout or campaign resources before the November 3 general election.
