Gold trades near $4,455 per ounce after pulling back from three-month highs near $4,700 amid profit-taking and uncertainty over Federal Reserve policy. Persistent inflation, with July core PCE at 3.7%, has kept alive market-implied odds of a September rate hike, while Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole remarks reinforced caution on easing. Trader focus now shifts to the week’s labor-market releases—JOLTS job openings, ADP employment, ISM manufacturing and services PMI, and especially the August nonfarm payrolls report—any of which could shift expectations for the Fed funds rate path and Treasury yields, directly influencing gold’s safe-haven appeal and USD-denominated pricing. Central-bank buying and ETF inflows continue to provide underlying support.
