Recent polling aggregates for Berlin’s September 20 state election show the CDU holding a narrow lead or tie with the AfD, typically 18–20% versus 17–18%, while the Left Party leads in some surveys. The CDU’s position reflects its stronger historical performance in the capital, including 28% in the 2023 repeat election, established organizational infrastructure, and the candidacy of Stefan Evers following Kai Wegner’s withdrawal. Although the AfD has registered gains nationally and briefly topped isolated Berlin polls in July, mainstream party firewalls and Berlin’s urban demographics have limited its momentum relative to eastern states. Traders appear to price these patterns, along with the CDU’s consistent edge in the latest INSA and Forsa fieldwork, as favoring the CDU securing more votes on election day.
