In Georgia's 2nd Congressional District, long-serving Democratic incumbent Sanford Bishop faces Republican challenger Matt Day in the November 3, 2026 general election. Forecasters rate the seat as solidly Democratic based on voting patterns and fundraising, with Bishop's primary victory and limited opposition supporting expectations of a clear majority. Georgia's majority-vote requirement for outright victory without a runoff underpins the market, and trader consensus at 97% for an outright winner reflects the district's structural lean and absence of competitive dynamics that historically trigger December runoffs. Potential shifts could stem from unusually high third-party turnout, late scandals, or turnout anomalies, though such developments remain uncommon in this low-competition race.
