Nikema Williams secured the Democratic nomination for Georgia's 5th congressional district with 88% in the May 2026 primary, facing Republican John Salvesen in the November general. The Atlanta-based district's strong Democratic lean, evidenced by Williams's prior 86-point margin, positions her for a substantial majority that exceeds Georgia's 50% threshold for avoiding a runoff. Trader consensus at 96% reflects this structural advantage and the absence of competitive challengers or polling shifts. Late developments such as an unexpected independent candidate drawing significant votes or a major campaign scandal could theoretically narrow the margin enough to trigger a runoff, though historical patterns and district demographics make such outcomes remote.
