Silver prices have advanced sharply to around $65 per ounce in mid-August 2026, supported by a sixth consecutive year of structural supply deficits and robust industrial demand that accounts for roughly 60% of total consumption, particularly from solar photovoltaic, electric vehicles, electronics, and AI-related infrastructure. Persistent physical tightness, combined with a softer U.S. dollar and market-implied expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts amid softening labor data, has lifted trader sentiment and price momentum. Key near-term catalysts include upcoming inflation releases such as the Producer Price Index and the September FOMC meeting, which could influence rate-path pricing and dollar direction. These factors underscore the dual role of silver as both an industrial input and monetary asset, with volatility likely tied to macroeconomic data and policy signals.
