California's 22nd congressional district features a November 2026 general election matchup between incumbent Republican David Valadao and Democratic nominee Randy Villegas, who advanced from the June 2026 top-two primary. Redistricting under Proposition 50 shifted the Central Valley seat toward greater Democratic performance, reflected in voter registration advantages and a narrow Trump margin in the prior cycle. Recent polling shows a close contest with a slight Democratic edge, while forecasters rate the race as a toss-up or lean Democratic. Trader consensus in this market reflects the impact of these structural changes and the incumbent's moderate profile on the general election outlook.
