The Federal Reserve's unanimous 25-basis-point rate hike to a 3.75-4.00% target range on September 16, along with a hawkish dot plot signaling one additional increase this year, has driven the primary upward pressure on the US Dollar Index. DXY traded near 100.33 on September 21 after touching seven-week highs above 100.50, supported by Chair Kevin Warsh's emphasis on persistently elevated inflation and resilient growth. Markets have repriced October hike odds to roughly 56%, lifting two-year Treasury yields and reinforcing the dollar's rate advantage. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have added safe-haven demand, while upcoming data releases and the October FOMC meeting remain key near-term catalysts that could shift rate expectations and DXY levels.
