Recent weak U.S. nonfarm payrolls data, showing a 23,000 decline in July against expectations of gains, have sharply reduced Federal Reserve rate-hike odds for the September FOMC meeting to around 44%, easing pressure on real yields and supporting XAU/USD near $4,600 per ounce. Persistent inflation readings near 3.4–3.5% and mixed signals from Chair Kevin Warsh keep monetary policy expectations fluid, while ongoing central bank purchases and Middle East tensions provide safe-haven bids. A stronger dollar or hotter-than-expected CPI print could quickly shift sentiment ahead of the next labor and inflation releases.
