Diplomatic protocols and established norms in US-China bilateral summits drive the near-certain trader consensus against any such personal gesture, as high-level meetings between heads of state adhere to formal etiquette centered on handshakes, joint statements, and structured negotiations rather than unscripted intimacy. Geopolitical tensions, institutional oversight of public events, and the leaders' typical approaches to international affairs reinforce this positioning, with no recent developments indicating a shift in summit formats. Realistic scenarios that could still influence the outcome include an unusually informal private encounter or a misinterpreted ceremonial moment, though such deviations from precedent have historically proven exceedingly rare in tracked diplomatic records.
