Elon Musk's March 2026 announcement of early public access for X Money in April fell short, with the payments platform now in wider closed beta testing as of mid-May, featuring peer-to-peer transfers, Visa debit cards with 3% cashback, 6% yield savings accounts, and QR payments. X Payments LLC holds money transmitter licenses in over 40 states, enabling nationwide rollout potential, but Senator Elizabeth Warren's April letters raised oversight concerns on consumer risks and crypto integration. Traders weigh competitive positioning against PayPal and banks, with product chief Nikita Bier teasing future cryptocurrency expansion. Watch for official public beta or waitlist announcements, as resolution hinges on verifiable open access by May 31.
