Gabriel Diallo, the higher-ranked Canadian, enters this Roland Garros first-round clash on clay after limited success since March and a modest 2-5 clay record over the past year. James Duckworth, the veteran Australian ranked around 83, brings recent momentum from a Challenger title in Mexico City and a productive clay swing that has sharpened his grinding baseline game suited to the surface. Their head-to-head stands tied at 1-1, with the most recent meeting a three-setter on hard courts last October and no prior clay encounters between them. Duckworth’s experience in extended rallies and strong recent form on red dirt make him a dangerous opponent despite the ranking gap, while Diallo’s power game and youth represent his main edges in what projects as a competitive opening-round test.
