Joe Hunt enters the Players Championship first-round matchup against Stephen Burton as the clear favorite due to superior recent form and stronger Pro Tour results. Hunt has secured multiple Challenge Tour titles in 2026 with consistent high averages and deep runs, demonstrating reliable scoring and finishing under pressure. Burton, ranked around 113-115 on the PDC Order of Merit, has posted modest averages in recent events and exited early in several Players Championships, including narrow defeats to higher-ranked opponents. The matchup favors Hunt's current momentum and experience against mid-tier competition, though Burton's occasional upsets remain possible in best-of-11 legs if he finds early rhythm. Trader consensus at 90.5% for Hunt reflects these established performance gaps.
