Rob Cross enters this Players Championship first-round matchup as the clear favorite, backed by his status as a former world champion and multiple-time ProTour title winner with consistent recent form. The 35-year-old has posted strong averages, including a 105.6 in their actual encounter, while securing a Players Championship crown earlier in 2026 and qualifying for the World Series of Darts Finals through recent qualifiers. Christopher Wickenden, competing primarily on the Challenge Tour with modest PDC results and lower overall rankings, faces a significant gap in experience, checkout consistency, and three-dart average against established PDC regulars. Market pricing reflects this established hierarchy and Cross’s superior track record in similar ProTour settings.
