This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of Manchester United. If no permanent manager is appointed by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Manchester United; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Manchester United's decision to finalize a two-year contract with Michael Carrick, including an extension option, has driven the overwhelming trader consensus around his appointment as permanent head coach. Since stepping in as interim following Ruben Amorim's January departure, Carrick has delivered strong Premier League results, securing a return to the Champions League with ten wins in fifteen matches. This performance, combined with club approval from co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and ongoing contract formalities expected within days, has solidified his position ahead of the weekend clash against Nottingham Forest. While a last-minute shift in club priorities or external candidate developments could theoretically reopen the process, the current momentum points to a swift confirmation that aligns with the market's implied probability.
