Vikki Goodwin trails at 16% after securing the Democratic nomination in the May runoff, with limited crossover appeal in a state where no Democrat has won a statewide office in nearly three decades. Recent August polling from sources like the University of Texas and Texas A&M shows Patrick leading or competitive with Goodwin, underscoring structural partisan leanings and incumbency advantages that shape trader consensus on the race outcome.
