**Close US-Colombia security cooperation under President Abelardo De La Espriella has reduced the likelihood of unilateral US military action against Colombian territory.** Since De La Espriella took office in August 2026, Bogotá has joined the US-led Shield of the Americas counter-narcotics alliance, authorized joint operations against designated narco-terrorist groups such as the ELN and FARC dissidents, and received a $1 billion US security assistance package plus MQ-9 Reaper drones. US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, have framed expanded ties—including intelligence sharing, aerial support, and potential joint strikes on armed groups—as partnership rather than confrontation. This marks a sharp reversal from earlier 2026 tensions with former President Gustavo Petro, when Trump publicly floated military options and the US decertified Colombia on counternarcotics. Current trader consensus reflects the new alignment: bilateral efforts target trafficking routes in the Pacific and Caribbean, border areas with Ecuador and Venezuela, and internal guerrilla camps through Colombian-led airstrikes supported by US assets. Recent verifiable developments include resumed Colombian air operations after a temporary judicial pause, ongoing US vessel interdictions, and diplomatic agreements on minerals and nuclear cooperation signed during Rubio’s September visit. Key variables that could still influence odds include any escalation involving Venezuelan territory, disputes over US basing requests (still under study), or setbacks in joint operations. No major scheduled events in the immediate term are expected to reverse the cooperative trajectory.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones, or missiles (including FPV and ATGM strikes as well as cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by any United States operatives, including military forces, intelligence agencies, or other U.S. government operatives, that physically impact ground territory within the listed country.
A strike on any area within the terrestrial territory (including rivers, lakes, ports, but excluding territorial sea) of the listed country counts.
Missiles or drones that are intercepted and surface-to-air missile strikes will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether they land territory or cause damage.
Actions such as artillery fire, small arms fire, ground incursions, naval shelling, or cyberattacks will not qualify.
Any strike occurring during this market’s timeframe that is claimed by either Donald Trump or the U.S. government will qualify.
The primary resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
This market will remain open until the end of the second day after the resolution time. If the date/time of a qualifying strike cannot be confirmed by a consensus of credible reporting by that time, it will resolve to "No" regardless of whether a strike was later confirmed to have taken place.
