Stan Wawrinka, the 41-year-old Swiss wild card and two-time Gonet Geneva Open champion in his final season, faces Italian lucky loser Raul Brancaccio for the first time on clay in the opening round. Wawrinka enters with a 7-12 record in 2026 and just 1-4 on clay this year, while Brancaccio has compiled a stronger 15-9 clay mark highlighted by finals at recent challengers. The home-crowd factor and Wawrinka’s familiarity with the Centre Court surface represent key advantages, though Brancaccio’s recent momentum and youth create a balanced contest where form and physical freshness on the slow red dirt will likely decide the outcome.
