Nicolai Budkov Kjaer holds a clear ranking edge at world No. 123 entering this first-round qualifying clash on the red clay of Roland Garros, where his recent challenger success on the surface—including a 2025 Tampere title—gives him a stronger baseline than No. 208 Gilles Arnaud Bailly. The Belgian has shown flashes in ATP qualifiers and notched a notable European Open win last year, yet his overall experience remains thinner at this level. With no prior head-to-head and both players still building ATP points, the matchup hinges on who adapts faster to the slow, high-bouncing conditions that reward consistent baseline play and physical endurance through the opening rounds of the draw.
