Francesco Maestrelli holds the edge in this Roland Garros qualifying match on clay against Rio Noguchi, driven by his higher ATP ranking near 112 and stronger 2026 results that include a first-round Australian Open victory and a second-round appearance against Novak Djokovic. The Italian has shown improved consistency on slower surfaces after recent losses in Rome, while the 28-year-old Japanese player at No. 204 enters with limited momentum following a straight-sets defeat in the Wuxi Challenger and sparse recent clay outings. Their lone prior meeting dates to 2021 on clay, where Noguchi prevailed, but Maestrelli’s age, power baseline game, and recent Grand Slam exposure create a clear matchup advantage in the qualification draw.
