Recent forecasts from MetService and international models indicate a southerly change and associated front will bring rain and cooler conditions to Wellington on September 7, with daytime maxima expected near 12–14°C. This aligns closely with the long-term September average high of 13–14°C, supporting the market's concentration of implied probability around those levels. Southerly winds and cloud cover are limiting daytime warming, while historical variability shows occasional peaks near 15°C or dips to 10–11°C under stronger systems. Updated model runs and official briefings in the next 24–48 hours will refine exact highs ahead of market resolution.
