Silver prices around $66 per ounce reflect a pullback from August highs near $71 amid hawkish Federal Reserve signals and shifting rate expectations ahead of the September 16 FOMC meeting. Recent data, including the August employment report and persistent inflation readings above the 2% target, have kept odds of a quarter-point hike in play, supporting a stronger dollar and higher Treasury yields that weigh on non-yielding assets. Structural support persists from the projected sixth consecutive supply deficit of roughly 46 million ounces, though softening industrial demand from solar and electronics sectors, alongside elevated inventories in some regions, caps upside. Key near-term catalysts include upcoming inflation releases and any shifts in monetary policy guidance that could influence real yields and risk appetite.
