Matej Dodig enters this Roland Garros qualifying first-round match on clay with a slight edge in recent surface-specific form, having secured wins in Split and Split Challenger events earlier this spring while showing improved movement on the slower red dirt. Yi Zhou arrives after a three-set victory over Dali Blanch in the Tunis Challenger but has compiled most of his 2026 results on hard courts. The two players meet for the first time, with ATP rankings separated by fewer than 20 spots (Dodig near 202, Zhou at 220), creating a closely contested matchup where baseline consistency and clay-court experience will likely determine advancement to the second qualifying round.
