Zdenek Kolar holds the edge in this Roland Garros qualifying opener against James McCabe thanks to his higher ranking near 165 and proven clay-court form from recent European challengers, where he reached finals and demonstrated strong baseline consistency on slow red clay. The 29-year-old Czech brings tactical experience suited to the surface, while 22-year-old McCabe arrives ranked around 233 after a stretch of Asian hard-court matches that may require quick adaptation to the heavier conditions in Paris. With no prior head-to-head meetings, the outcome likely turns on McCabe's ability to handle Kolar's steady pressure and capitalize on any early opportunities in the best-of-three format.
