Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance indicate a post-frontal air mass with northwest winds and clearing skies will limit daytime heating in New York City on September 14, positioning the highest temperature near 75–76°F. After Sunday’s heavy rain and thunderstorms, the incoming drier, cooler air and brisk northerly flow suppress afternoon warmth, keeping readings well below seasonal averages while still allowing modest recovery under mostly sunny conditions. Market-implied odds favoring the 76–77°F bin reflect this consensus across official guidance, with lower-probability bins for 74–75°F or 78–79°F capturing remaining uncertainty in exact wind strength and cloud cover timing. Updated model runs and NWS briefings ahead of the peak heating window remain the key near-term catalysts.
