Supply recovery from reduced highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks has driven the $2.00–$2.25 range to a 64.5% implied probability for the May 2026 average retail price of a dozen eggs. Wholesale prices stabilized near $1.25 per dozen early in the year after plunging below $0.35 in January, while retail levels fell to $2.25 in April from $2.35 in March and peaks above $6 in 2025. USDA projections for a 29.4% annual decline reflect ample replacement pullets and fewer first-quarter detections of the virus compared with 2025. Trader consensus incorporates seasonal spring demand alongside these supply gains, though persistent but limited flock losses and feed-cost volatility keep modest upside risk priced in the $2.25–$2.50 bin at 27%.
