Iran’s constitution requires presidential elections every four years, with the most recent vote held in 2024 after President Raisi’s death, electing Masoud Pezeshkian to a full term ending in 2028. No Guardian Council decree, parliamentary action, or official announcement has advanced the schedule as of August 2026. The March 2026 selection of a new Supreme Leader following Ali Khamenei’s assassination introduced institutional flux and regional security pressures, yet these events have not altered presidential term structures or triggered confirmed snap-election procedures. Traders price a low probability of an early contest because any such vote would require formal vetting, candidate qualification, and scheduling steps that remain uninitiated, leaving the 2028 timeline intact absent unforeseen leadership or constitutional changes.
