Recent National Weather Service guidance and model runs indicate a strengthening ridge of high pressure will sustain unseasonably hot conditions across central Texas on September 22, with Austin forecast highs centered in the upper 90s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and light easterly winds. Consensus among official products places the daily maximum near 98–99°F, supported by elevated dew points and heat indices above 100°F, while isolated afternoon convection introduces minor cooling risk that caps probabilities for 100°F+ readings. Historical September averages near 90°F underscore the anomalous warmth, and traders appear to weigh the narrow spread between 96–99°F bins against potential model adjustments in the final 24 hours before official observations resolve the market.
