National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance for Atlanta on September 21 project a high in the low 90s under continued warm, moist southerly flow, with heat indices potentially nearing 100°F before any afternoon convection develops. This supports the near-even market split between 90-91°F and 92-93°F outcomes, as subtle differences in boundary-layer mixing, cloud cover timing, and storm initiation—driven by marginal instability—could determine whether peak readings reach the upper or lower end of that range. Recent days of unseasonably high temperatures have sustained the warm air mass, though increasing northwest flow later in the week signals an impending cooldown that adds forecast uncertainty for the exact daily maximum.
