Recent National Weather Service and model consensus forecasts indicate a maximum temperature near 70°F for New York City on September 20, driven by increasing cloud cover, showers, and southeasterly flow ahead of a coastal system that will suppress afternoon heating and limit solar radiation. Persistent overcast conditions and precipitation probability exceeding 80% during peak daylight hours differentiate the closely matched market outcomes around 70–73°F, as even modest shifts in rain timing or cloud thickness could alter the daily high by 2–3°F. Historical September climatology for Central Park shows average highs near 75°F, underscoring how this setup deviates from typical clear-sky warming. Updated model runs and official NHC/NOAA guidance ahead of landfall windows will refine these temperature thresholds for traders.
