Latest National Weather Service and model guidance point to a high near 93–94°F in Chicago on September 2, supported by a strengthening heat dome and southerly flow advecting warm, humid air from the southern Plains. This setup has produced heat indices near or above 100°F in recent days and is expected to peak midweek before a frontal passage cools readings Thursday. The pattern sits well above the early-September climatological average of roughly 80°F, explaining why traders have concentrated implied probability on the 92–95°F bins. Updated model runs and the next NWS forecast discussion remain the key near-term catalysts that could shift these odds.
