Current National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance place Chicago’s August 31 high in the upper 80s to low 90s under southerly flow ahead of a warm front, with afternoon clearing and rising dew points supporting peak readings near 88–90 °F. This consensus underpins the near-even market split between the 88–89 °F and 90–91 °F bins. Key uncertainties include exact timing of warm-air advection, boundary-layer mixing depth, and any lingering morning cloud cover that could cap temperatures. Updated NWS point forecasts and next model cycles will refine these variables ahead of resolution.
