This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 20 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Max (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.**Trader sentiment for Hong Kong's highest temperature on August 20, 2026, reflects high uncertainty around typical late-summer conditions, with probabilities clustered tightly between 28–32°C.** Hong Kong Observatory seasonal guidance indicates normal to above-normal temperatures for August–October amid the background long-term warming trend, while short-term forecasts show persistent hot, humid air (dew points often near 26–28°C) punctuated by showers and thunderstorms that limit solar heating. Recent model runs and outlooks point to daytime maxima near 31–32°C under partly cloudy skies, but increased convective activity or thicker cloud cover on the 20th could suppress readings toward 28–29°C; conversely, any extended sunny intervals would support 32–33°C. Climatological baselines place August averages around 31°C, with urban heat-island effects at official stations adding variability. The flat distribution across outcomes underscores model spread in timing and intensity of rainfall, steering winds, and moisture advection just days before the event. New HKO updates or refined numerical guidance in the coming 48 hours will likely sharpen these distinctions.
