This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 18 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Max (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.**Forecast models for August 18, 2026, place Hong Kong’s daily maximum in the 31–33 °C range under typical late-summer monsoon conditions, producing the tight clustering of market-implied probabilities around 30–32 °C.** Official guidance from the Hong Kong Observatory and major numerical models shows light rain or showers, with daytime highs of 27–32 °C and a medium probability of significant rainfall. These showers increase cloud cover and reduce incoming solar radiation, which commonly caps the afternoon peak 1–2 °C below what would occur under clear skies. High humidity (70–95 %) and light easterly winds further moderate the maximum by enhancing evaporative cooling and limiting surface heating. Recent seasonal outlooks indicate normal-to-above-normal temperatures for August–October 2026, consistent with the long-term warming trend, yet the immediate 48-hour period is dominated by transient moisture rather than extreme heat. Small differences in the timing or intensity of showers can shift the recorded maximum by a degree, which is why trader consensus remains split among 30 °C, 31 °C, and 32 °C while probabilities for 34 °C or higher stay low. Updated model runs and the Observatory’s afternoon bulletins will be the key catalysts that refine these odds before resolution.
