In case of ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official election results as published by Wigan Council (https://www.wigan.gov.uk/).The Makerfield by-election on 18 June features Labour's Andy Burnham, the Greater Manchester mayor seeking a parliamentary seat amid party leadership dynamics, facing Reform UK's Robert Kenyon, a local candidate who placed second in the 2024 general election. Recent opinion polls place Burnham on 43-49% and Kenyon on 37-40%, with all other candidates below 6%, establishing Kenyon as the clear runner-up in trader assessments. A live BBC candidates' debate one day prior highlighted shared local concerns over immigration, crime, and the cost of living without shifting the two-way contest. Kenyon's established Reform support base and personal profile as a constituency resident reinforce his position ahead of smaller-party challengers.
